Poems: Love at First Sight
24 hours she held you
Hoping you would have a better life
At four months I saw you
Lifting your head in curiosity
It was love at first sight
Your tiny hips protruding through your flesh
To reach out through the screen and hold you
I could not
Waiting, Waiting, Waiting
One month felt like one year
My heart screaming to hold you
Nurture you, Mother you
At 8 months I was able to fly like a mother eagle
Bringing food to her nest
Through mountains of snow
I came
Feeling cold freeze my nostril hairs
Quickly melting
A bundle of blue
Arrived in my arms
And I saw those curious eyes
Staring back at me
Love at first sight
My heart pounding for joy
That you would give me the gift of motherhood
And I
Could love you unconditionally
Forever
